Jamia S. Burns
Born and raised in Bellingham, I have practiced law in Whatcom County since 2009. After several years engaged in Personal Injury and Employment Law, I found my passion providing individualized Estate Planning (Wills and Trusts) services to my clients. I take great pride in preparing customized documents that reflect client wishes while working closely with them to protect their family interests and provide peace of mind.
I earned my Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law, graduating in the top 5% of my class. I am actively involved and committed to this community. I serve on the board of a local credit union, assist low income residents with legal issues through Law Advocates, and am a member of Whatcom Women Lawyers.
In my leisure time I enjoy paddle boarding, kayaking, international travel and cheering for the Seattle Sounders.
I had a one on one with Jamia Burns Wills & Trust Lawyer in Bellingham. I found her to be very knowledgeable and compassionate in the area of Elder Law, wills & trusts. Thank you Jamia for the time spent with me. It was VERY helpful.

She did an excellent job in helping my husband and I plan our estate for the first time.
My husband and I have been married for 25 years. We have three children off at college and felt it was a good time to get our will and Estate Planning in order. Jamia came to us very prepared with an excellent list of questions we needed to answer for our Will planning. She worked with us to determine the best way too provide for our children in the future. Her professionalism and work ethic was just what we needed. She came to our home and went over all of the laws giving us wonderful advice and a chance to make her own decisions. The Will was drawn up in a very timely manner and we are very pleased to have it done. I highly recommend this lawyer.
She was very helpful and knowledgeable about the process on how to set up a will and things to consider when setting up a will.
Jamia is a fantastic listener. I felt she listened to my concerns before responding in a thoughtful and intentional manner. I trust her advice and she explains why a course of action is in our best interest. I can highly recommend her.
I want to thank you for a very stress free time in writing the ever elusive will. It feels great knowing that now we finally have in writing what we knew has needed to be done for years!
